Version v0.9.7

Release date: Nov 20 2025

A full redesign of the article experience: better layout, smarter navigation, new interaction buttons, and polished discovery tools.

Overview

A Smarter, More Comfortable Article Experience

v0.9.7 focuses entirely on one thing: making every article in Simpleread feel clear, well-structured, and enjoyable to navigate. From layout to navigation to interaction buttons, the entire reading experience now feels more polished and closer to the rest of the app’s design language.

A redesigned layout that simply feels right

Articles now follow a cleaner, more intentional structure on all screen sizes. On desktop, the content sits comfortably in a readable column, while tablet and phone layouts adjust to keep everything lightweight and spacious. Text no longer sits awkwardly in the center — it flows the way a real article should.

When the table of contents is open, the article shifts gracefully so you can keep reading while navigating between sections. The transition is subtle, quick, and helps the article feel alive rather than rigid.

A table of contents that stays out of your way

The new table of contents appears on tablet and smaller screens, giving you fast access to all major sections without overwhelming the page. Sections are linked by their real titles rather than technical IDs, making navigation clearer and more predictable.

This system also works seamlessly with version articles, so all releases — old and new — now share the same polished experience.

Share buttons that adapt to your device

Sharing articles got a major upgrade. On desktop, the share button copies the link instantly and confirms it with a small checkmark. On mobile, it uses the native sharing popup for a familiar, OS-level experience.

It’s simple, elegant, and designed to work everywhere without friction.

A theme toggle that respects your app settings

Articles now follow your preferred theme automatically. If you’ve enabled dark mode in the app, the article view switches alongside it — instantly and without flashes. You can still toggle themes manually, but now it feels like a natural extension of your reading environment.

Finding articles is finally easy

The article library now includes a proper View All page that lets you explore everything at once. Searching is clearer, and matching text is highlighted to help you jump straight to what you’re looking for. When you start typing, Show More disappears automatically to keep the focus on the results.

Short titles are now generated automatically, categories default to Featured, and several layout quirks around slicing rows and showing more content have been cleaned up.

Small details that make browsing nicer

Article tags now scroll if there are too many to fit in one line, complete with a subtle bottom scrollbar on hover. Discovery links use titles instead of technical identifiers, which makes them more flexible for the future.

These refinements add up — browsing feels smoother, tidier, and more stable than ever.

v0.9.7 is a quiet but meaningful upgrade. The article system feels more grown-up, more expressive, and much easier to explore — a foundation for the many guides and releases still to come.
